Shot on Goal After Self-Assist

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal as well as a starting cone and an orientation cone as shown in the diagram. The players line up at the starting cone. Each player ideally has a ball.

Procedure

The players set up the ball for the shot themselves. They must finish before or at the latest at the level of the orientation cone.

Tip

- The correct speed of the self-assist is important. It must be timed so the player reaches the ball with a sprint in time. - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; standing leg offset about 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the wind-up motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Different shooting techniques (inside pass, instep drive, bending, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
