Shot on Goal from Own Self-Pass

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Each player has a ball. Set up as shown.

Procedure

The players line up behind cone I. The front player lays the ball off to himself toward the goal so that he can take a shot at the height of the second cone (II). As soon as the player has shot on goal, the next starts the drill.

Tip

- Make sure the player's self-pass is timed well enough to allow a finish at the height of cone II. - As soon as one player has shot, the next starts immediately to avoid delays. - Demand different shooting techniques (inside of the foot, instep, outside of the foot, etc.) - Demand shots with the weak foot as well (always alternating once right - once left, etc.). - Pay attention to body posture when shooting (upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion (when shooting with the right, the right arm goes back and the left arm forward); eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot). - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
