Shot on Goal with Fixed Wall Passer Variation I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal, two starting cones, and a cone where the wall passer positions as shown. The players distribute evenly at both starting cones. The balls are also distributed to both starting cones. The starting players always have a ball.

Procedure

The wall passer is alternately played by the starting players of both groups with a flat, short, and fast pass. He lets the ball bounce into the starting player's running path and orients himself toward the starting player of the second group. The approaching player shoots the ball directly on goal. Then he lines up at the other starting cone. Once the wall passer has passed the ball back, the starting player of the other cone begins his pass. The wall passer rotates regularly. This creates a two-footed passing and shooting drill.

Tip

- Make sure that shooting with both right and left foot is trained. To do this, you can have players only shoot with the left from one cone and only with the right from the other. - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting (upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot). - The wall passer makes a short counter-movement as soon as the starting player goes into the backswing and then comes briefly toward the ball. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - Make sure the waiting starting player begins the drill as soon as the wall passer has passed the ball back to the active player. - The starting player only runs after his pass when the wall passer goes into the backswing. - 3 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
