Set up a goal, two starting cones, and one cone where the wall passer positions himself as shown in the diagram. The players distribute themselves evenly at both starting cones. The balls are also distributed to both starting cones. The starting players always have a ball.
Procedure
The wall passer alternately receives lofted balls from the starting players of both groups. Depending on skill level, the wall passer has two options: A, he catches the ball and throws it to the oncoming player for a header, or B, he controls the ball (e.g., with the chest) and plays it back high. The receiving player must control the ball with his head and finish on goal. Initially, he should head the ball down and then control it with his foot; later, a volley should follow directly after the header. As soon as the ball is received, the next player starts. The wall passer rotates regularly.
Tip
- When lofting, the foot goes under the ball and is lifted upward toward the wall passer using the instep. - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot offset about 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the direction of the shot; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the leg's backswing, the other arm is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - For the volley, the upper body is slightly leaned forward. The ball is struck at a low point (not too high). This gives the ball more power and greater accuracy. - Make sure the waiting starting player begins the exercise as soon as the wall passer has thrown/passed the ball back to the active player. - When controlling the ball with the head, ensure the ball is taken flat in the running direction (striking surface of the forehead points slightly downward) and not allowed to bounce upward or to the side (head tilted back). - 3 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
