Shot on Two Goals After a Cross

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

A field is marked out with four cones. A goal is placed on each of the two short sides. The players distribute themselves evenly across the four positions (A-C) shown in the diagram on the sides of the goals. One player positions himself in the centre of the field.

Procedure

Player A opens the play with a flat pass to the wall player in the centre and sprints diagonally into the half-space I. The wall player passes the ball on to Player B. B then plays the ball directly into the run of A and sprints toward the penalty area. There, he tries to finish the cross played by A on the run. The drill then continues on the other side with the same running and passing patterns. After each action, the players line up at the position diagonally opposite to them. The wall player rotates regularly.

Tip

- The pass to the wall player should be played to his strong foot. - The wall player makes a counter-movement at the moment of A's backswing and comes briefly toward the ball. - Focus on powerful and precise passing. - The diagonal ball from Player B into A's run is played as a flat, diagonal inside-of-the-foot strike (half inside of the foot, half instep). - Player A takes the ball at full speed and then crosses it precisely to the onrushing B. - After the action, the wall player immediately turns to face the other group. - B waits at the edge of the 18-yard box and starts when the crosser begins his backswing. - 4 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
