Shot on Two Goals After Ball Reception / Various Actions

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Set up two opposing goals and six cones (see diagram). The players distribute evenly at the four outer starting cones. The balls are with the players of group A and B.

Procedure

Drill sequence I: A plays a flat pass to A1. A1 dribbles to the middle cone, passes it on the inside, and shoots on goal. Simultaneously, B passes the ball to B1, who also dribbles to the middle cone, passes it on the inside, and then shoots on goal. First, aim to curl into the corners with the inside of the foot, then shoot on goal with the instep or as an inside-instep shot. Drill sequence II: Like I, but now a move is executed before the middle cone. To practise the sequences with both feet, the players switch sides after 5 minutes (A becomes B / A1 becomes B1). Variation I: Each player has a ball. A and B run simultaneously and meet exactly in the middle. Both players hook their left arms and make a full spin (sling). Then they shoot in the running direction. Then the same sequence for B1 and A1. Variation II: Each player has a ball. Players A and B simultaneously start dribbling at their cones and after 2-3 metres pass the ball diagonally into each other's running path so that the other player can shoot on goal at the height of the middle cones. Then A1 and B1 start with the same drill. Variation III: Player A plays a give-and-go with player A1 waiting at the middle cone. Player A then crosses from the goal line to player A1, who has run into the box and looks to finish. Parallel sequence for B and B1. Variation IV: A plays the ball to player A1 waiting at the middle cone and runs diagonally toward the goal. Player A1 lets the ball bounce into A's run, briefly follows his own pass, and receives a through ball from A (toward the goal line). Player A1 crosses this ball into the penalty area, where player A finishes. Parallel sequence for B and B1. After each run, players A and A1 as well as B and B1 switch positions.

Tip

Shot on goal: - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - For the volley shot, the upper body should be slightly bent forward and the ball struck at a low point (not too high). This gives the ball more power and greater accuracy. - For the header, the contact surface is the forehead. The power is generated from an arched tension in the upper body (player arches the back). Just before hitting the ball, the player releases the arch by snapping the head forward and striking the ball in front of the body. The arms are moved backward in a bent position during this movement. Passing: - When passing to the wall passer, make sure to play to his strong foot. - The ball reception and control should be a fluid movement. Excessive bouncing of the ball or reception deviating from a straight running path should be avoided. - When passing into the running path, play the ball so that the receiver can start the follow-up action (e.g., cross) as directly as possible from the run. Moves: - Execute moves approx. 1-2 metres before the middle cone. Then briefly increase tempo, finish. Dribbling: - The upper body is slightly bent forward at the start of the dribble. When stopping andnpulling the ball back, it straightens up slightly. - When executing a body feint, the centre of gravity shifts correspondingly to the right or left through the typical sideways angling of the upper body. - Don't lean backward. - The arms are bent at the elbow and carried at the sides of the body, following the normal arm movement when running/walking. - Bend the leg when receiving the ball. - The ball is only touched lightly ("gently"). A feel for the ball must be developed. - The gaze should regularly leave the ball (alternating between looking at the ball and looking ahead). - Keep the tempo up. - As many ball touches as possible. - The legs are slightly bent at the knee during execution. - Close ball control (ball should not be more than 50 cm from the foot). Wall passer: - The wall passer makes a short counter-movement as soon as the starting player goes into the backswing and then comes briefly toward the ball. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
