Shot on Two Goals with Overlapping Runs, Crosses, Crossing Runs, and Finish
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players6 - 9 players, 10-15 players
Setup
A field is marked out with four cones. A goal is set up at each end, with a starting cone placed to the side of each goal. Two groups are formed (blue/red) who position at the starting cones (with ball) and in pairs at the corresponding positions in the field as shown.
Procedure
Using the red group as an example: Player A begins the drill with a flat pass to player B, who receives the ball while turning inward and then makes a short speed dribble. Player A sprints immediately toward the goal line after his pass. Now player B passes the ball into A's run, and together with player C, runs into the penalty area. Player A crosses the ball from the run in front of the goal. B and C cross and try to finish the cross. On the other side (blue group), the drill is performed simultaneously with the same running and passing paths. Both positions in the field are each double-occupied. After each run, the players move one position forward (A to B; B to C; C to A).
Tip
- The opening pass to player B should be played to his strong foot. - Player B makes a counter-movement at the moment of A's backswing and comes briefly toward the ball. - Pay attention to powerful and precise passing. - The ball reception and control from the turn should be a fluid movement and can be done with either the inside of the foot or the outside of the foot. - Pay attention to close ball control and explosive acceleration during dribbling.n The through ball to player A must be timed so that the player can cross from the run just before the goal line. - The finish develops according to the type of delivery (ground pass, half-high/high cross). A first-time finish should always be attempted. - When finishing with a shot, pay attention to the following body posture: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
