Shot with Cone Obstacles

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

The goalkeeper coach positions himself 14-20 m in front of the goal. Several cones (preferably disc cones) are placed in the penalty area. The goalkeeper is in the goal; the balls are with the goalkeeper coach.

Procedure

The goalkeeper coach shoots low balls at the goal. Depending on whether the ball hits one or more cones, the flight path of the ball changes. The goalkeeper tries to save the balls coming toward the goal.

Tip

- The goalkeeper must anticipate the flight path of the ball very quickly. This trains his reaction speed. - The goalkeeper should try to hold onto the balls if possible. If he cannot, he should deflect the balls to the side. - Just before the coach strikes the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads the arms to the sides, slightly bends the knees, and stands on the balls of the feet. The feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes fix on the ball. - Very important here is proper footwork to be able to push off from the ground quickly and firmly. - 20 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
