Set up a goal, three poles, and two starting cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute themselves evenly at the two starting cones. The balls are with Group A.
Procedure
Player A dribbles from the starting cone toward the two nearest poles. At the same time, Player B starts his run along the pole. Once there, A plays a through ball that Player B runs onto and shoots on goal either directly or after a brief first touch. After each round, positions are switched.
Tip
- Focus on an explosive dribble with close ball control. - The opening pass into the 18-yard box must be timed so that the player can reach the ball with a straight sprint. - B starts toward goal as soon as A begins the backswing for the pass. - Player B's ball-oriented running path takes the shortest route to the ball (no curved runs). - Pay attention to proper body position when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the direction of the shot; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the leg's backswing, the other arm moves forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Make sure to practise shooting with both the right and left foot. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - 3 pole(s), 1 full-size goal(s)
