Situational Double Teaming

Setup

  • 1 mini-goal
  • 3 cones
  • 2 attackers and 2 defenders per round

Procedure

Player 3 initiates the exercise with a pass to Player 11. Player 11 engages in a 1v2 situation against the full-back and the wide midfielder. Player 11's objective is to dribble through one of the cone goals. The full-back and the wide midfielder play towards the mini-goal defended by the goalkeeper.

Tip

Coaching Points:

  • Perform the exercise on both sides of the field
  • Full-back doubles with wide midfielder
  • Full-back drops back and slows down the opponent
  • If the opponent dribbles with the inside foot: wide midfielder attacks the ball directly
  • If the opponent dribbles with the outside foot: wide midfielder attacks the ball from the outside
