Speed Dribbling with Ball Handover

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up the cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute evenly at the four outer cones. The balls are placed at the outer cones.

Procedure

Players A + B dribble simultaneously to the other side. The ball should be carried at maximum speed with especially tight ball control and handed over to the player on the opposite side.

Tip

- Explosive start. - The ball handover should occur on the move, meaning the player expecting the ball starts moving when the dribbler begins the handover motion. - If player A carries the ball with the left foot, the player expecting the ball starts offset to the right (from his perspective) from the dribbler, so that at handover the handover space can be closed. - Quick, short steps with tight ball control (maximum 50cm distance from ball to foot). - The head constantly moves from down to up to keep both the ball and teammates in the field of vision. - 4 cones
