Sprints after reacting to movement of the opponent with changes of direction

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

There are two opposing slalom courses with cones. To the right and left of it, two goal cones are built according to the graphic. The players are distributed over the two cone courses and line up at the first cone in a row.

Procedure

The blue player is the active runner. In the following, he must try to arrive in front of the red (passive) player at the targed cone he has chosen and not to be caught by the red player. The red player is only allowed to start when the blue player starts. At the beginning, the blue player has to run through the cone course in slalom and try to get a lead over the red player. After the last cone, he must then decide whether to run to the right or left goal cones. To do this, he may fool in different directions, but must be careful that red player cannot catch him. If you succeed in touching blue in front of the goal cone or in front of him on the goal cone, red wins. Alternative: Both players start at the command of the coach. After the players have completed the cone course, the trainer specifies the color (yellow or red) of the goal cones that the players must head for. Whoever arrives first wins.

Tip

- After the slalom run, the players may make a body illusion and turn 45 degrees in the target direction. - The aim is to train anticipation, reaction and the beginning. - Palms are open, do not make fists. - Loose, easy manner, no trampling or pounding but light-footedness. - Fast, short movements. - Short contact with the ground. - The sprint is started in step position on the footpads. At the beginning, the upper body is bent far forward, the center of gravity is at waist level, the view goes down. After applying pressure on the footpads, the upper body is gradually raised, the view rises and the cadence increases. The arms are actively moved alternately with the leg movement (the right leg goes forward, the left arm goes forward and vice versa). After the first 3-4 steps on the footpads, the entire foot is rolled (heel-> sole-> footpad), the upper body is upright and calm, the step frequency increases to the maximum. - 12 cones
