Team Game Crosswise

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

Pitch: Mark out an area of 20 x 20 metres with four cones. About one metre behind each of the four sides of the area stands a mini goal. The two mini goals lying opposite each other are each marked with a flat marker in one colour, in the graphic one pair yellow and the other orange.

Equipment: 4 cones, 4 mini goals, 4 flat markers in two colours, bibs in two colours, balls.

Players: Two teams. With an odd number of players, one neutral player is nominated who plays exclusively for the attacking team.

Procedure

  • The two teams play against each other.
  • Each team attacks the two mini goals that are marked with its colour. As these goals lie opposite each other, every attack goes through the wide areas.

Progression:

  • At a higher level introduce additional rules, for example a touch limit or a time limit.

Note: Drill idea by Eddie Plickat.

Tip

  • The attacking side should play in depth in order to create space, because the defence will cover the wide zones.
  • The defending side should screen the player on the ball in such a way that neither the side of the goal near the ball nor the centre can be played.
  • Only allow ground balls.
