The Attacker Dribbles Diagonally from Outside at the Defender

  • Training Set Main point

Procedure

The striker tries to dribble at the defender at pace and play the ball past him at high speed. If he dribbles to the outside, he has more of a crossing or passing option. If he dribbles inside, his playing options increase and he can move toward the dangerous zone to take a shot himself. The defender approaches the dribbler and slows down a few metres before him, positions himself offset to one side, and in his backward movement tries to slow the attacker's pace while offering him space away from the goal. When possible, he tries to get his body between himself and the attacker.
