Balls and medicine balls are with the goalkeeper. The coach stands opposite. The distance to the goalkeepers is variable depending on throwing strength and age group, ranging between 10-50 metres.
Procedure
The goalkeeper throws alternately with a regular football ball and a medicine ball. He practices the throws with both the right and left arm. The goal is to throw the balls to the coach or to the goalkeeper colleague standing opposite. The colleague should regularly vary his position and distance.
Tip
- Throws with the medicine ball serve as a strengthening exercise for the arms. - For the throw, the arm is extended backward like a javelin thrower and the ball is placed on the open palm. The extended arm is then brought forward under tension, passing close to the ear. Important here is the bracing step. When the goalkeeper throws with the right, the left leg is positioned forward to the side. When throwing with the left, the right leg is positioned forward to the side. The throwing technique can be practised against a catch fence and later incorporated into shooting drills, where after a saved ball, it must be thrown into a goal set up at any distance. - Throws with the ball should be trained at every age level. The use of a medicine ball should begin no earlier than age 15.
