Transition Game: From 1v1 to 2v1

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point, End
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

• 2 mini-goals

• 4 cones

Procedure

Player 1 starts the drill by passing the ball to player 2.

Player 2, the attacking player in this scenario, takes his touch forward and tries to beat player 1 (defender) in a 1v1 situation and score.

If player 1 wins the ball, he can also score into the mini-goal.

If a player scores, his opponent will be joined by a second player to play a 2v1 attacking sequence.

If the two players manage to score, the first of the two players leaves the field and the opposition is joined by a second player.

Therefore, the 2v1 situations shift quickly according to the goals scored.

If the ball goes out of bounds, the drill starts off with a 1v1 situation again.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Use the additional player in a 2v1 situation for quick passes or combinations; finish on goal quickly

• Defenders: Be ready to switch from a more physical man-orientated 1v1 to a 2v1 situation (blocking passes) fast
