Triangle Formation Give-and-Gos in a Triangle Variation II

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Three cones are set up as specified. The starting cone with ball is double/multi-occupied; one player stands at each of the other cones.

Procedure

A plays a give-and-go with Player B (1+2) and then passes diagonally to Player C (3). C plays a give-and-go with B (4+5) and then C plays another give-and-go with D (6+7). Player C then passes (8) diagonally to Cone II (Player A). Player A then passes the ball to D (9). Now the same sequence as before takes place. Running paths: - Player A runs to Cone II - B runs to Cone III - Player C switches to Cone I Positions are changed clockwise! Alternative: After half the time, a direction change occurs and the sequence runs counterclockwise.

Tip

First, practise the passing exercise slowly, then increase the passing tempo. The ball-expecting players always make a preparatory movement. A dynamic jump step sideways or backward, then moving toward the pass. The exercise is enormously running-intensive at fast execution speeds with only four players. - Under time pressure, a very demanding, game-like passing game is required. - The ball-expecting players call for the ball with a verbal cue. - Pass timing and start timing are decisive. - Often the players run faster than they pass. - Do not forget the running path. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - Accuracy before speed. - Concentration must be maintained. - 3 cones
