5 hurdles of variable/different heights of approximately 70-100 cm per hurdle for adults (lower for children and youth depending on jumping ability) are set up in a row. The hurdles are 1-1.5 m apart. The goalkeeper stands on one side of the setup; the goalkeeper coach (GC) with balls is 12-16 metres away.
Procedure
The goalkeeper performs tuck jumps (legs bent) over the hurdles. It is important to actively use the arm swing to support the jumps. Intensity: 4 repetitions followed by an approx. 3-minute rest. 5 such sets total. Alternative: After the jumps, the goalkeeper must catch a ball or pass one back.
Tip
- Tuck jumps: Through a powerful, two-footed takeoff, the knees/thighs are pulled to the chest. The arms are bent and go into the wind-up motion. The upper body is upright. Landing is on the balls of the feet. After a short ground contact time, the next jump follows immediately. - Immediately after the last tuck jump, the player must position themselves so that the plant foot is offset to the side of the ball and the kicking foot goes into the wind-up. - Just before the GC strikes the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads the arms to the sides, slightly bends at the knees, and stands on the balls of the feet. The feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart; the upper body leans slightly forward and the eyes track the ball. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - 5 hurdle(s)
