Four players position themselves on the field according to the diagram. The two blue players A and B are the defenders, the two red players the attackers. In the starting position, the ball is with red player C.
Procedure
Player C opens with a pass to D. As soon as C goes into his passing motion, player D is pressed by defender B. When player B leaves his defensive position toward D, his defensive position is taken over by A. Afterwards, the players return to their starting positions. The initiating passer changes after each round in a counterclockwise direction (so now D to C, then B to A, etc.)
Tip
- This exercise is a dry run. No tackles take place. It primarily serves to learn the running patterns. - The exercise should be practised with as many repetitions as possible (automating the movement sequence). - Attention should be paid to precise and crisp passing. - The trigger for the defensive reaction is the passer's wind-up. The lateral distances between players are approx. 7-12 m. The player pairs face each other at a distance of approx. 15 m. - 1 full-size goal(s)
