two against two with moving in

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Five players position themselves on the playing field as shown in the diagram. The two blue players A and B are the defenders; the two red players are the attackers. The goalkeeper goes in goal. The ball is with the red player C in the starting position.

Procedure

Player C starts play with a pass to D. As soon as C moves to strike the ball, defender B runs to/attacks player D. When player B leaves his defensive position in the direction of D, player A takes up his position in the defense. Now a 2 on 2 situation with continuously changing paths begins till such time as the defender wins possession or the attacker makes an attempt on goal.

Tip

6 cones, 1 full-court goal(s), - This pattern of play\'s main function is for the learning of paths used in soccer. The tackling carried out, however, is fully active and with full physical exertion.\n- The drill should be repeatedly trained as many times as possible (automation of movement combinations).\n- Attention should be paid to a precise and punchy passing/attacking game.\n- The start signal for the counter-reaction is the passer of the ball moving to strike the ball. The lateral distances between the players are 7-12m. The playing partners stand at a distance of about 15m opposite from each other.\n- If one of the defenders safeguards the other at the back, he should move 5m laterally offset behind the man in front.\n
