Various Coordination Drills with the Ball

Setup

Each player has a ball and positions themselves in a semicircle in front of the coach.

Procedure

The players perform various coordination drills on the coach's instruction: - Take the ball in both hands and throw it from bottom to top. - Throw the ball straight up and catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, clap once, then catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, clap once, touch the right thigh with the right hand, then catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, clap once, then right hand on right thigh, then left hand on left thigh, then catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, clap once, then right hand on right thigh, then left hand on left thigh, clap once, then catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, do a full turn, and catch it again. - Throw the ball straight up, sit down on the ground, legs apart, the ball bounces between the legs, stand up and pick up the ball. - Kick the ball up and control with a drop kick, pass it behind and through the legs with the inside of the foot as a chop, control with chest/thigh or instep, or flick it through the legs with the instep.

Tip

- Constantly demand accuracy and speed (slow execution does not lead to game-like success in the long run). - 180-degree turns: Legs and arms are slightly bent. Upper body slightly leaning forward. The player turns on the balls of the feet around their own axis. - Quick, short movements. - The interplay of arms, legs, and ball is trained. - Motor skills are trained. - The drills are demanding.
