Volley Finish with Back to the Passer

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal and two starting cones as shown. All players except one gather with balls at cone A; one player goes to cone B.

Procedure

Player A chips the ball from a standing position or a short approach over player B. Player B sprints through to the ball and shoots it directly as a volley or drop kick on goal. Player A then immediately runs to cone B, and player B, after retrieving the ball, goes to cone A.

Tip

- When chipping, the foot goes under the ball, which is then lifted upward with the instep to the wall passer. - Demand shots with the weak foot as well (always alternating once right - once left, etc.). - As soon as one player has shot, the next starts immediately to avoid delays. - For the volley shot, the upper body is slightly bent forward. The ball is struck at a low point (not too high). This gives the ball more power and greater accuracy. - For the drop kick, the ball is struck with the instep at the exact moment it touches the ground. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
