Use cones to mark out a field. On the end line of the field, set up a goal with a goalkeeper inside. A total of 6 field players take positions on the field as shown in the diagram. On the left and right wings at the level of the penalty area, two players stand 10 metres apart from each other. Two cones are placed at the halfway line, where the remaining players position themselves. The balls are with the players at the halfway line.
Procedure
Player C starts with a diagonal ball to A (1) and runs together with B toward the penalty area. A starts dribbling toward the edge of the penalty area (2). At the same time, player E starts and overlaps A toward the goal line. Upon reaching the edge of the penalty area, A plays a diagonal pass into E's run (3), who crosses the ball so it arrives in the penalty area 4-11 metres from the goal. As the crossing motion begins, B and C, who have arrived at the penalty area, make crossing runs, occupy positions at the near and far posts, and try to finish the cross. Players D and H occupy the right back space and finish balls that the two central strikers cannot reach.
Tip
- When crossing runs are made, it is important that the players start moving after the second-to-last pass and switch positions explosively at sprint speed just before the crosser's kicking motion. - The crossing players/attackers must not start too early. - Make sure the practised movement patterns lead to a fast, fluid overall movement. - Continuously demand accuracy and tempo (slow execution will not lead to game-realistic success in the long run). - Players should learn to observe (similar to a real game) and apply what they observe. - Continuously correct mistakes to prevent the development of incorrect habits. - The gaze should regularly be lifted from the ball (alternating between looking at the ball and looking forward). - The player expecting the pass makes a short counter-movement simultaneously with the passer's kicking motion, or runs toward the passer and receives the pass while moving forward (1 touch). - The pass should be played into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - 6 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
