Wing play/Crossing to two goals I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players

Setup

A goal is set up on each end of the field with a goalkeeper in each. 9 field players are positioned as shown in the diagram. Two players go to the left and right of each goal, and a target player positions himself at the centre spot. The balls are beside the goals.

Procedure

The attacking variation begins with a long pass from player A to target player C (1), after which A runs diagonally toward the midfield line. C now passes directly into the run of player B coming toward him (2), who plays a wall pass with A (3+4), takes the ball at full speed, and finishes (5). Player A then positions himself on the left and B on the right beside the goal. Following the action, the blue players execute the same play in the opposite direction.

Tip

- When passer A begins his backswing, player B starts. - The pass should be played into the path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the run of the receiving player. - Player B tries to control the ball near goal with few touches and finish as quickly as possible. - 2 full-size goal(s)
