The two wing players E and H and the two strikers I and J are placed on the field as shown in the diagram. At the level of the penalty area, a cone square is set up on each side with a defender positioned inside each. The balls are with players A and H. There is a goalkeeper in the goal.
Procedure
The exercise starts with a speed dribble by player A, who tries to beat the red defender in the cone square (1) and then deliver a cross at full speed to the crossing strikers I and J between the 6-yard box and the penalty spot (2). The two strikers I + J try to score. Then the same exercise sequence follows, starting with a speed dribble by H, from the right side.
Tip
- The strikers cross toward the near and far post. - When crossing, it is important that the players explosively switch positions at sprint speed just before the crosser's backswing. - The crossing players / attackers must not start too early. - The crosser should deliver sharp, precise passes. - The defender should close down the path to goal. Stand offset to the side so the attacker must take the path away from goal. - The defender tries to pressure the attacker as early as possible so he cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body with the shoulder forward between himself and the attacker. - 8 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
