Wing players A, E, D, and H and two strikers I and J are placed on the field as shown in the diagram. At the level of the penalty area, a cone square with a defender inside is positioned on each side. The balls are with players A and D. There is a goalkeeper in the goal.
Procedure
Player A has three options to start the exercise. Variation 1 (blue running path 1): Player A tries to beat the defender in the cone square with a speed dribble and then cross at full speed to the two crossing strikers I and J between the 6-yard box and the penalty spot. Variation 2 (red running path 2): Player A tries to beat the defender in the cone square with a speed dribble and run directly toward goal to shoot from the level of the penalty area line. Variation 3 (yellow passing path 3): Player A passes the ball into the cone square to the sprinting player E, who receives the ball at maximum speed and then decides whether to execute variation 1 or 2. Then the same exercise sequence follows from the right side with players D and H.
Tip
- The strikers cross toward the near and far post. - When crossing, it is important that the players explosively switch positions at sprint speed just before the crosser's backswing. - The crossing players / attackers must not start too early. - The crosser should deliver sharp, precise passes. - The defender should close down the path to goal. Stand offset to the side so the attacker must take the path away from goal. - The defender tries to pressure the attacker as early as possible so he cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body with the shoulder forward between himself and the attacker. - The second player can overlap the player on the ball or play a wall pass. - 8 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
