Wingers + Striker Switch Play

  • Age Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Front 3 (LW, ST, RW), GK (Prog +2CBs)

Procedure

BASIC

1) Coach feeds ball into RW. They drive at the cone before playing cross-field ball to LW

2) ST drops deep when RW receives the ball as option for one-two before pushing into box

3) LW receives cross-field ball and crosses to either ST (who has pushed to 6 yard box) or RW (who has pushed to penalty spot) for a 1st/2nd time finish. LW can shoot if within 2 touches

ALT: RW can play one-two with striker to get themselves into crossing position - in this case LW will take up position on penalty spot for cross.

PROGRESSION:

Cone replaced with LB, and ST is marked by a CB.

1) Coach feeds RW as before, who has the same main options of switching play or one-two with ST - but can choose to run inside defender

2) ST draws defender out before making run into the box

3) LW can either shoot or find ST/RW with precision the focus

CBs - first few reps just apply pressure, increase level of defending as drill progresses.
