Close-range low shots and lobs

  • Organisation

    The goalkeeper is in the goal. The goalkeeper trainer positions himself centrally in line with the penalty area in front of the goal. The goalkeeper trainer has the soccer balls.
  • Process

    The goalkeeper runs 7-8 meters out of the goal and then receives a close-range low shot. The trainer then lobs the second ball to the goalkeeper. A-C: Goalkeeper’s path/moves 1: Shot 2: Lob Resources: 1 field-goal
  • Tip

    : - The goalkeeper should stand still for as long as possible, with his arms stretched out and his feet shoulder-width apart. - To start with, he should run quickly out of the goal then slow down just before he reaches the trainer. - Just before he takes the shot the goalkeeper does a small jump with both legs or takes a small step forward, puts his arms out to the side, bends his knees a bit and stands on the balls of his feet. He should point his feet in the direction of the shot and keep them almost hip-width apart, lean slightly forward with his upper body and keep his eyes on the ball. - After the save he must be upright again immediately and run backwards. - If he fails to catch the ball he must push with one arm over the crossbar or to the side
