Crosses from half-way line with defensive pressure

  • Organisation

    The goalkeeper stands centrally, 1-2 meters from the goal. Two players position themselves centrally in front of the goal in line with the penalty area. Another player (GC) positions himself with the balls, as shown in the diagram, level with the side line.
  • Process

    The wing player makes a cross from the right (or left) side into the penalty area. Both strikers cross and try to finish the cross. The goalkeeper’s aim is to catch as many crosses and let in a few goals as possible. Intensity: 10-15 crosses per side Equipment: 1 field goal
  • Tip

    - The goalkeeper pushes off the leg furthest from the ball and pulls the other leg up near his body. the ball should be caught at the highest point possible - Arms must be stretched out - Goalkeeper pushes off the ground with one left and bends the other leg - Bring the ball close to the chest as quickly as possible - Start by standing on the balls of your feet - Take small steps - The goalkeeper stands centrally, 1-2 meters from the goal and facing the ball - Legs remain parallel to each other and knees should be bent slightly. Upper-body should be bent slightly forward, arms remain at your sides and elbows slightly bent (stand like a cowboy who’s just about to take his gun from its holster) - To be able to guess the trajectory of the ball, the goalkeeper should only react after the ball has been shot - If he’s unable to catch the ball, it should be punched away to the side with both fists (or one fist, if applicable) - Decide whether he can get the ball or not - React quickly to connecting action (attacking players) - The paths for both attackers are: The player at the back (from the perspective of the crosser) runs to the front post, the other behind in line with the back post.
