Skills Exercise: Christmas Tree

  • Organisation

    Setup an obstacle course. The yellow cones are always placed in the middle of the red cones.
  • Process

    The players start from the four starting points and move right to the yellow cone, then left to the red cone with the ball at their feet. The players should turn in front of the cones, not behind the cones. Exercise 1: clip the ball with the instep in front of each cone. Exercise 2: clip the ball with the outstep in front of each cone. Exercise 3: step over in front of each cone. Exercise 4: turn 360 degrees in front of each cone. Exercise 5: fake shot trick in front of each cone. Exercise 6: complete each of the five previous skills one after another, so that everything that has previously been learned can be practiced in one go.
  • Tip

    The exercise should be started slowly with the focus on the quality of the tricks. Technical quality is more important than speed. As the player becomes more confident, the speed and complexity of the drill can be increased. The following players should not start too soon and need to ensure that they reduce their speed if a player in front of them makes a mistake and so slows the drill.
  • Field size

    36 meters long and 24 meters wide.
  • Cone margins

    The distances between the red cones is 12 meters and the yellow cones are 6 meters away from the red cones.
