Dribbling Tasks Around the Square

  • Organisation

    • 4 cones to set up a square

  • Durchführung

    • Players dribble around the square alternatively in clockwise and counterclockwise directions. During the drills, the following tasks are performed:
      • Dribble using only the left/right foot.
      • On two opposite sides of the square, pull the ball back with the sole, and on the other two sides, perform backward pendulums.
      • Direction changes are made with the Zidane turn.
      • Direction changes are made after a shooting feint.
      • Direction changes are made after a scissors move.
      • Direction changes are made after a body feint.
      • Juggle the ball around the square.

    Note

    • Ensure enough rest between rounds.
    • Act at a high pace.
    • Maintain close ball control.
    • Use both feet.
    • Look up from the ball.
    • Correctly dose contacts to not deviate from the shortest path.
    • Perform sharp direction changes, not in an arc.

    Coaching Points 

    • Train using both feet.
    • Ensure the whole group keeps up with the pace.
    • As a variation, let players dribble through cones with a feint (only the first player).
